Charity Drive 2023

Three Counties Challenge 2023.

UPDATE: 25th June

After many requests, we have now set up a crowd funding page so people can help donate something towards the costs for her recovery. We are truly very grateful for all support.

UPDATE: 23rd June

Millie and Willam were involved in an accident at the start of the drive. As a result we have cancelled the whole journey. All the humans and dogs are fine, as is Willam. Millie is in hospital and will need extensive specialist care, but we hope she can make a full recovery in time.

The Charity Drive

This summer Millie & Willam, two of our Shire horses, and Boo Boo will be on a 3-week journey pulling a trail wagon to raise money for three charities... Police Care UK (34%), the Royal Air Forces Association (33%), and the Samaritans (Gloucester, Cheltenham, Worcester, and Hereford branches) (33%).

We travel through the Three Counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire.

Along the route we will be visiting Gloucester cathedral, Worcester cathedral, Hereford cathedral, as well as Uley Brewery, Wye Valley Brewery, Westons Cider Mill, Hanbury Countryside Show, towns (including Stroud, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Pershore, Ledbury, Bromyard and Ross on Wye) and villages.

The Story:

My brother, a serving police officer, sustained horrific injuries whilst on duty with the Royal Protection Unit at the Balmoral Estate back in 2003. He spent 14 years in a coma before passing away in 2017. The support that him and his young family received over the period, from his Police Force and the Police charity, was enormous. My mission is to help put funds back into their pot so that they can carry on helping other police officers and the wider police community when they are in need.
I come from a family that has served with the Royal Air Force since 1917 and the Samaritans do such essential, sterling work in all our communities and parishes.

My Shires:

My beloved Shire horses work the farm as well as doing an annual Charity Drive event. This will be our third year of fundraising endeavours. They love meeting the general public and spending time with you. Boo Boo, the Border Collie, simply loves everyone he meets in a way that I'll never understand!

Join in!

You can book an hour or two journeying on the wagon on this year's event by donating £30 per passenger per hour. Please call me on 0778 667 6647 to arrange prior to making your donation.

Auction:
There will also be an auction that closes at journey's end and the lots available include one of the horse shoes that the Shires wear during the journey (8 lots), the charity teddy bears, plus other lots.

Where to find us:

We will be carrying a live GPS tracker so that people can follow, or find, us on the journey. https://live.opentracking.co.uk/shires2023
