The basic travel plan is:

To leave Gloucestershire, go through Worcestershire and then head between Birmingham and Coventry to get up to Newark on Trent. I will stay on the east side of the Pennines so I'm going past Lincoln, Goole, York and Thirsk and then stop at the Beamish Living Museum which is roughly half way.
After this I will cross the border into Scotland and head towards Edinburgh. Cross the Firth of Forth over the Kincardine Bridge to visit the Scottish Police Memorial. After this I wend my way to Perth and then shadow the A9 up to north of Aviemore before I cut across country to Elgin and journey's end.
Simple really...!
